My Father, The Mover

Short documentary

Coming Soon

Alatha’s father calls himself a Mover. Using a unique type of African electric dance moves known as Gqom, The Mover is helping kids in the township of Khayelitsha to transcend their hardship (drugs, poverty and abuse) and “find their superpowers.” Through peeling back the curtain into his daily life, we learn that The Mover is also one of the few single fathers in the township raising his daughter. And while he has managed to help many kids through movement, he still has difficulty getting his own daughter, Alatha, to break open and find her own powers. But in a tender moment together, this is all about to change.
